There are exhilarating pursuits and gorgeous scenery on the Pemaquid peninsula.

We hope our snapshots bring to mind an earlier visit or lead to making plans to drop in at The Sea Gull Shop.

These turkeys know it isn't customary to serve them on Valentine's Day. They gobble-up at shop girl Patty Hughes's feeder daily.

At dawn on Pemaquid Point, Monhegan Island, about 12 nautical miles (22 km) off the coast, is covered by the orange glow.

Surf flies high into the air below the lawn of The Sea Gull Shop.  A storm brought awesome waves to break on the rocks on Pemaquid Point.

Seeing this spectacular November sunset, one recalls the adage, "Red sky at night, sailor's delight. Red sky in morning, sailor's warning".

A snapshot from an autumn drive in Maine. In September the skies are clear. In October, the orchards are full of apples. In November, the afternoons are perfect for hot cider.

On Wednesdays and Fridays Jeanne Lane works in the gift shop. "Buoy" knows she offers the best seat in the house!

During a busy Sunday breakfast at The Sea Gull Shop, Paula takes time to visit with daughter-in-law Kate, grandson Noah and granddaughter Grace.

Owen, The Sea Gull Shop's resident snowboarder and Paula's son-in-law, smiles for the camera before heading down the mountain. This great weekend trip to Sugarloaf in Kingfield, ME was a special treat hosted by our friends, Cory Hanna and Nancy Adams.

In the bitter cold of January, a rare Northern Hawk Owl has stopped traffic and brought birders to an old spruce tree on Route 130.
From time to time, to the excitement of on-lookers, he flies down from his craggy perch into the field below and catches a rodent!

A dark, wintry January night is illuminated by brilliant full moonlight!

Geraldine Wotton (left) in bright pink, enjoys an afternoon with the girls! On occasion they steal-away from The Sea Gull Shop for some fun! Geraldine passed-away in June, 2008. She was well-loved and her homemade jams and jellies were a favorite at The Sea Gull Shop!

On snowy mornings Paula bundles-up and walks around the yard filling bird feeders with seed and suet.  Many small birds and creatures are found at her feeders in Winter, along with the ever-present and hungry flock of Seagulls!

Pirate Day was fun-filled for friends and family alike! Many of us dressed in costume and enjoyed a day of swashbuckling! Jasper, Dan and a feathered friend (left to right) enjoy some serious pirate bonding!

Pirate Pete (left) is a great vantage point for Grace while Lucas and Paula smile and say, "arrrgh" for the camera as festivities of Pirate Day continue!  Pirate hats (child and adult sizes), skull and flag beads, pirate hoop earrings, eye patches, plastic pirate hooks, foam swords and pirate flags are sold in the gift shop. Created with the help of several Sea Gull Shop staffers, the lavish "Mutiny Sundae" is a rich bounty! Made with sliced banana, four scoops of ice cream, brownie pieces,
blueberry, strawberry, raspberry and warm chocolate sauce, whipped cream, chopped nuts and a cherry!

Chloe came from California to the Damariscotta area with Mom, Elizabeth (Paula's daughter) and their family in the Spring. The snow and cold is new but she makes the best of it!

The local Lobstermen are always happy to supply a mess of crustaceans for a feed! It's fun to choose your dinner while the pot is set to steam!

Santa's ship? New Harbor's most merry fisherman is at it again this holiday season!  Once the sun goes down, passers-by this Route 130 residence are treated to a glittering spectacle!

Lupines are finicky plants. It took Paula several years to coax them to bloom in her garden.

In the late Summer, ripe Rose Hips brought this hungry, young Bull Moose out of the forest surrounding Pemaquid Point.

Visitors find they can't sit still here. There's always another
activity to enjoy.

Walking around the Pemaquid Loop Road provides visitors with many beautiful views.

There's never a dull moment at The Sea Gull Shop. Owner Paula Houghton has a laugh with a lobster ( granddaughter, Grace ).

The American Lighthouse Foundation gave the Pemaquid Point lighthouse tower, built in 1827, a make-over during the Summer of 2007.

The local Seagulls are always welcome for a meal at The Sea Gull Shop.  Feedings happen several times a day.

Time tested recipes, local ingredients and an ocean view make our desserts taste better.  Grace and Paula build a Strawaberry Shortcake for a sweet end to a meal.
