 Our gift shop has grown in titanic proportions since opening in 1937. Where once you found a dozen-or-so linen and white border postcards, you now find four rooms packed-to-the-gills with gifts and souvenirs for every taste and pocketbook.
Upon entering, you're surrounded by things that will recall your visit to Maine, the sea and the Pemaquid Point lighthouse. What began as an ice cream fountain and coffee counter now features postcards, greeting cards, sea glass, polished rocks, jams, jellies, maple syrup, place mats, napkins, candles, sun catchers and wind bells. Ice cream, coffee, drinks, pies and sandwiches are still served at the counter.
In the next room, you'll find glass cases full of sterling silver jewelry, fresh water pearls, bangles and bling. The shelves are covered with lighthouses, mermaids, sea birds, sailboats and moose of all sizes. The walls are covered with framed prints evoking a day of boating, hiking along the coast, bird watching or burying your feet in the sand on a sunny August afternoon. Proceed into the heart of the gift shop where you'll find tee shirts with skull and cross bones and whales, hoodies with the Pemaquid Point lighthouse and Bull moose and fleece jackets embroidered with Loons and Pine trees.
We celebrate Christmas in June, July and August with a corner filled with a large selection of beautiful boxed notes devoted to the Winter holidays on the coast. Shelves are covered with plump snowmen, jolly old Saint Nick, drifting angels and friendly creatures from the Maine woods to add sparkle to your tree and adorn your mantle. Roly-poly, stuffed lobsters, seals, bears and Puffins, fill more shelves, still.
Make your way to shelves of books on the Pemaquid Point lighthouse, sailor's knots, entertaining, navigation, flora, fauna, boat building, crafts, history, lodging and cooking throughout Maine, in every season, for the young and then some. Here you'll also find a large selection of souvenirs, including: refrigerator magnets, key chains, playing cards, shot glasses, bumper stickers and bobble-head pirates. The back room features a large selection of children's toys and games, challenging jigsaw puzzles, ship-in-a-bottle and paint-by-number kits, as well as pirate collectibles and posters featuring the coast of Maine and Maine wildlife.
